Looks like the whites are getting surrounded. Luckily Ash tends to be minor species in the Northern Hardwood forests of whites but I sill see some nice specimens on occasion that would be sad to see gone from the canopy. I have talked with folks from the midwest where there were ash dominant stands and it was less than three years from healthy forest to 100% dead trees. The current recommendation to forest owners is to wait until EAB is nearby and clearcut the trees to get some value out of them before the EAB moves in.

I read that the ATC is going to try to keep a remnant population along the AT by treating a few trees along the corridor in hopes that they can preserve the genetics until a cure can be found.
