My daughter and I did this hike yesterday. First off - if you've ever been on this trail (Willey Ridge) you know it can be a beast. Right now, it is moreso than it would be any other time of year. The section where the ladders are is mostly solid ice. I was REALLY glad I brought my ice axe for some of the steeper sections as it was extremely helpful not only for clawing our way forward on those sections but also serving as a 4th point of contact and the not quite as steep as that sections. The trail was mostly unbroken after it broke off where it goes to the pond. Other than that upper section we were fine with crampons. It was packed enough that snowshoes weren't necessary but if I wasn't so lazy I mighta put them on anyway.
