Date of Hike: June 2nd - 2018

Trail Conditions: South Meadow was in good shape, The Van Hovenberg to Phelps junction and Phelps were wet and a bit muddy as expected in early June after Thunderstorms the night before.

Special Equipment Required: Bug Spray and sunscreen in the afternoon.

Comments: Optional - Four teens, three from Troop 72 in Colchester were up for a ten mile hike for the Hiking Merit Badge. (they did some extra on the trail to Van Hovenberg as far as the beaver pond) A cloudy foggy morning turned into a magnificent afternoon. On of the boys had a migraine so he rested a bit longer with his Dad and recovered just fine. The lot was full when we arrived near 9:45, parking along the Loj Road is no longer allowed and apparently now enforced as only a car or two were on that road while 30 or so were on Meadow Lane making it a single lane road. There was some parking at Meadow Lane at the trailhead and this approach to the former Marcy Dam site beat walking on the Loj Road.
