To climb each of the northeast 115 in each month, I'm trying to imagine how many miles of driving that would entail, even from the most central of locations. 1,380 summits. With drives to NY and ME, I imagine that must be what, 75,000 to 100,000 miles when all is said and done! Wow!

Not to mention the logistics of getting many of those peaks in Winter with road closures, trail conditions, etc. I can't even wrap my head around that one. It actually happened? Seems impossible. Every year the bar on these lists gets raised. Nuts.

48 Winter season after age 75 is really impressive too. I agree with Daytrip, every year the bar gets raised.
Anyone know oldest person to ever become a 48 finisher?

Although I don't get the draw to repeating the 48 over and over, at least the 115 gets you out of NH. That's a tough one for sure. The NE100 Grid would be just as bad IMO. Dealing those logging roads in ME is a PITA just once. No finishers for that yet. I'm guessing Jason Bearpre will probably be the #1 finisher of that one. Last post I saw on FB NE100 he was something like 1050 of 1200. Fork that!!! :D

It goes too show you, there are many different interest out there. I've been doing the 48 for 40 years and I cant wrap my head around bushwhacking through thick spruce and blowdowns for fun.

Whoever claimed it was fun?! I whack through a phantasmagoric snarled hellscape of soul crushing conifers and blowdown every week of my life and I've never enjoyed a minute of it!
It's great, I love it!
