    Yeah, I did a double take when I read that. I figured they must have been experiencing hypothermia and/or panic are the point.

    Only other thing I thought was they were wearing low top boots and had lost them in a post hole.

    I wear low tops (albeit with Gators in winter) and I've lost a shoe to mud... But I went and got it. Perhaps this person lost it post holding into a stream? It did say they were in a drainage. Either way, yeesh.
