Mount Mayo Attempt, Sunday Nov 18

Stevensville Parking Area – Nebraska Notch Trail to Long Trail South

Nebraska was packed by prior bare boot hikers. Problem was I was wearing snowshoes and the path was only 12-inches wide. Us snowshoe people are a demanding lot and want a wider path. Maybe it was first time on snowshoes for the season. Maybe it was the narrow path. Could have been the pup stepping on the back of the snowshoes. But tripped and fell twice.

At Taylor Lodge turned south towards Mount Mayo. No signs of prior traffic. Classic Long Trail white blazing that is intermittent and widely spaced. Between locating trail and sinking in 12 to 18-inches. Turned around on the climb up Mount Clark. Will return with additional research on trail and more time.

Near where I turn around on Clark noticed orange diamond shaped trail markers that would appear to head back down towards Lake Mansfield. Could not find any information on this backcountry ski trail.
