Finished reading this book and found it very interesting especially from the SAR standpoint. I believe the author did an excellent job giving insight to just what it takes to perform a rescue especially one of this magnitude. One of the things that sets this book aside unlike many others of it's nature was the comments, actions and insight of Osborne. Of course and fortunately a lot of that insight was do to his miraculous survival which otherwise would not have been available. Most rescues the aftermath can be devastating for survivors and much of the time denial of the mistakes that were made can be harrowing and psychologically destructive for the victim. Moving through and recovering from the mourning process can not always be successful. I give a lot of credit to Osborne for his positive mental attitude and working through the process appropriately. Also not to mention his gracious giveback and appreciation to The SAR community.
