Not sure how legit this proposal is but some good potential news for Millinocket if it pans out. I am unsure how many employees one of these centers employ but anything that brings jobs into the area will support services like restaurants and stores that visitors like hikers and whitewater rafters would like to use when they swing through town.

Brookfield hydro has a hydro dam just behind the proposed center that formerly supplied the pulp and paper complex. The building in the background is the former Great Northern Millinocket Company offices, its a big building that has not had a purpose for the last decade.

There have been several failed attempts in the past to install a data center in this area, when the state put in the fiber infrastructure Millinocket was major hub.
