There is evolving research to suggest that exposure to colder temps activates brown adipose tissue (brown fat), which is one of the body's means of producing heat upon exposure to cool/cold temperatures. Activation of brown fat is believed to decrease circulating glucose levels (probably a good thing for other reasons, too). Reduced circulating glucose gives cancer cells, which tend to utilize glucose metabolisms as a means of energy production to a much greater extent than healthy tissue, much less to feed on. Have a read, if you're so inclined. And with September nearly upon us, sharpen up those crampons!

And PS, yes the title of this thread is perhaps a bit hyperbolic. :)

Lots of folks are picking up on the benefits of being cold. The daily cold water immersion swimmers around the world can’t all be crazy!!

I wonder what conditions can be cured by riding up the double chairlifts at Magic Mountain?

Not sure I would make that correlation? Even crazy people do some healthy things. Now to go for a walk....:D
