Is the path from mckensie to moose by lake placid a bushwack or is it a well maintain path? It looks like a long haul and if it is not a clear cut path I will need to leave a little earlier. Anyone do this, and how long of a day will this be. I usually average 3 miles an hour, or 1300 feet an hour.

This is a trail. A couple of places in Lake Placid even have a small trail map and guide to the Shore Owners Assn Trails there.
The trail is not heavily used, but well marked and adequate to be followed.

I've done it within the last month. IT IS AWESOME. It is marked with white blazes and signs (too many for my liking). The views from each peak totally rock. This trail is better than 3/4 of the high peaks.

It took us 7 fairly relaxed hours doing this trip (and we in got some good summit time). Certainly not a bushwhack, but it is very herd path like and you DO have to pay attention. I loved the rustic, yet brainless, nature of the hike. You will LOVE IT.

Heres a sample - (Lake Placid from McKenzie)
