His name is Christian McNeil. Is he still around? I just opened my first aid kid, and found a note to myself to remind me to send him a recipe.. That note was from Feb, and I forgot.

Anyone know if he is still a caretaker and where? I have to send him a recipe for "sucre â la crême".

PS I'll delete this message in a few days if no answer, sooner if I get one.

The name is familiar - was he the Zealand caretaker with the web journal? Ah, yes ... right here.

Behold the power of Google. :)

"Sucre a la creme" sound very delicious! Will you share it with us???

Is it like Sucre d'erable ala creme? or a tarte a sucre or a tarte a sirop d'erable?

Please share. Can I entice you with rep points?

Could be. I'm not a sweet lover. My wife makes it, and tells me to bring it along. It packs well. Strange thing... Every time I've stayed at a hut or ranger cabin, the caretaker or ranger really liked it. I guess that living alone out in the woods might make them crave sweets:

Here we go:

Sucre à ls Crême

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup of Carnation canned milk
5 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 cups of powdered sugar

mix the first 3 ingredients in a pot, and cook over a medium
heat. As soon as it begins to boil, start timing, and let it
boil, while stirring, for 5 minutes.

Remove from heat, add vanilla and powdered sugar. Mix, then
spread into a greased pan, and let cool. Cut into squares
and eat.
