I'm looking for 1-2 additional climbing partners for a 2 1/2 to 3 week trip to the Cordillera Real in Bolivia. Target dates of travel are between mid-June through July 2024.
TRs or beta from those that have climbed down there would be most welcome too.
Looking to climb Cabeza de Condor...
They are a fuller glove with a feel similar to BD guides. I had no issues holding tools, biners, screws, etc.. My one complaint is that I sized up to a XL and the fit is a little too snug to easily get the gloves on/off when wearing a liner.
We finally received some weather this weekend worthy of challenging the new heated gloves. I wore the OR Prevail heated glove without liners yesterday for about 5 hours ice climbing in -15F weather. The low setting kept my hands warm all day and at one point I accidentally bumped one of the...
Very cool--our favorite spot around!
Thanks--maybe next summer after the next visit. Turning around a few hundred feet below the summit and flying off the mountain from 17k in a helicopter the next day gnaws at me 6 months later...but nonetheless obviously very glad to have all my digits.
I...
After getting frostbite on all 10 of my fingers on Denali this past May I picked up a pair of OR Prevail heated gloves. Will report back later this winter after testing them and my newly cold-sensitive fingers once colder weather arrives.
Thanks Mark for sharing your experiences in such vivid detail. Congratulations as well on your Denali summit and 50 high points, but boy what a harrowing tale. I can't imagine descending from Denali Pass in such a state but it sounds like you had a great team with you to help and perhaps were...
My NE67 finish was a triple finish of NH48/NE67/NEHH on W. Bond in the Winter of 2011. It was my first time up the Bonds so breaking trail between Bondcliff and Bond was interesting. We got off route staying along the ridge instead of making the right hand turn into the trees. A broken...
Arm and I met him late Sunday afternoon on Franconia Ridge. Unless I misunderstood I believe he said he started the day with Tom/Field/Willey, was in the midst of a Franconia Ridge Traverse and, after speaking with us, sounded as though he was going to descend Flume Slide then do Cannon and the...
Splitboard. For the first short tour of the year my legs shudder at the thought of carrying both skis and a snowboard. Well that and the fact that I've never skied a day in my life!
I skinned/snowboarded the carriage road yesterday. I was surprised to see close to 20 skiers and snowboarders on their way down, apparently there was a Moosilauke bday ski party. It was skinnable to the summit with some open water stepovers in the first mile. I kept my skins on from the...
Per and myself were trying to figure out how many finishers there are of the SSW67 a couple years back. There may well be other finishers but what we found out via word of mouth is:
1. Cath G
2. Bryan C
3. Doug T
4. myself
5. Dan M
6. Per F
I suspect this year will see a few more finishers...
FWIW (and this is nothing but unsubstantiated speculation), Dan M, Jason B and myself were doing a presi traverse on January 17th on a particularly brisk day. MW weather archives list the low as -25 F, which was near the temp at the trailhead that morning. The winds averaged 55 mph and peaked...
