  • Nice! the Bakers were the other ski I was considering before I got the Havocs - had a deal on the Havocs so went with those.
I use my Endorphins with my Rossi B2 alpine setup and they drive them no problem. There was a time I was looking to upgrade from my painful old alpine boots... I stopped looking after I realized the Garmonts do it all :)
Garmont Endorphines Rock!! Best AT boot I 've ever used. I hardly use my Real alpine boots anymore. I'm running them also with the Frits paired with the K2 Mt. Baker.
I am in the East Coast for a little longer! ;) But didn't bring my skis... ya know, damned if I do, damned if I don't! At least at the moment I'm not kicking myself for missing skiing days back there :)
Ouch! Maybe you should ccome back East for awhile where at least the ground is still white all over.
Gotta love all these ski threads lately. Definitely has my attention on watching the snowpack with all the AVY news of late. What's it like in your neck of the woods?
Thanks about the avatar...he's also headed for first decents on peak # 781:cool:
Yep, truly about conditions. A friend of mine came over to Baker ski area last year and yep, he got some hardpack... some of that "Cascade Concrete"... then he leaves and it dumps powder!
But Baker v Chugach? Don't know much about the conditions up there but I'd take that once in a lifetime experience to get dropped off on top of some peak named "7584"... ski some looong swooping line, get picked up by the chopper and go ski another crazy line on peak "7122"... yeah... and take some pics and make us jealous :D
Trying to make decisions for April. I've got a potentially cheap trip to hit the Baker area but a chance to hit the Chugach for some expensive once in a life time copter skiing also. Guess it will come down to conditions. Keep us posted on the snowpack and if you keep posting all those great photos we might have to kill you:)
It looked like this from the West last weekend :)

Higher up it's looking good, but it's been warm down low... as in lower than 7K'... finally today and tonight the snow line is dropping to 3500' with some precip today and tonight... finally! It's been really up and down over here - one week there is 1.5' of powder at Paradise, the next it's all melted, the next the snow line goes up to 12K'! and Rainier park closes for a whole week because of flooding over the park road! Crazy stuff!

The day after that pic we went to the Baker ski area and it was almost completely bare! We had to traverse a long ways to get to some skiable snow... not many turns, but many awesome views of Baker, Shuksan and some other North Cascadian fellows!
