Country is beautiful. The drive west on 9 from 91 over that switchback (Hogback ?) is in my subconscious as a favored mountain vista. I was comparing specific towns, as in the OP.

Yes. Please DO NOT STOP in Bethlehem. The easy access to the highways, shopping, the larger towns, the Notches, the Art Scene, the food, the Trailheads, etc. It all is bad.

it's ice, ice baby and some are not prepared. it's amazing how far a young couple got up the trail before crashing hard on the ice. we split our microspikes with them so we all had 1 on the way out.

All this is correct, from what we saw. Microspikes from the parking lot, especially after the recent rain/thaw/freeze. Nothing in the forecast to change that anytime this week.
