    How crowded mid-week?

Just a couple of observations. A few Mondays back I arrived at Ravine Lodge around 9:30 am and the lot was overflowing. Instead I went to Glencliff and there was one one car in the lot. I had the trail to myself until I reached the Carriage Boulevard. The main summit was crowded with folks...

Little Help with Acadia Trail Rec

Beat me to the punch with Gorham for the sunrise. (Dorr would also be good as noted.) You might also look into Great Head from other side of Sand Beach and while little more intricate to get to, Cedar Swamp Mt (about 2 miles up the Sargent South Ridge) is open and less busy.

    Unknown location

That's cool Hillwalker! Found these from the not too distant past. A little hazy on both days, but certainly you see the scars on Anderson in 2001. 2010 https://goo.gl/photos/gK528rgUztwTixhP7 2001 https://goo.gl/photos/yVcxzPpi17W5WdTJ6

    Ellen/Abraham...VT

Also FWIW, I'm a slight bit faster than "book time" in the Whites and when I did Ellen and Abraham out-and-back from Lincoln Gap in 2010, I was at 7 hours. And that was with ample photo stops. I remember it as a fairly easy hike compared to other hikes of similar elevation gain and mileage.

Accessing Spaulding Mtn from Sugarloaf ski area

Here's my track from a few years back. Almost 10 miles;I went on the service road for some of it but I don't think that greatly affected the distance. Best! chipc

    Thoreau article

One of my colleagues at BU has used some of Thoreau's records for research on climate change. He's written several articles using this work and has written a rebuttal to The New Yorker article.

I was just able activate it. I had to enter my email address as the username, and for the password you use "GEPFREE". Should be fun to play with!
