  • No just a bit of a duck under, could be a pain with a few feet of snow. BTW thanks for all of the work you do, trail is in great shape, the waterbars on Piper are exceptional!
Thanks for the greenie (and the tweet) Chris. That was one of those one in a million shots that just happened by mother nature being kind and being in the right place at the right time. Even my point and shoot camera couldn't screw that one up...
Thanks for the complelent. That is a bummer about the SRT , cooperhill. On the bright side it should a a short and easy re-route.
Thanks, still needs loads of work, but it is a fun undertaking! Makes me feel like a kid again playing in the dirt and the mud and the rocks! :)
Yes i did myself. I have a Granberg Alaskan MK III Portable Lumber Mill. It's a lot of exhausting work, but it gives excellent results.
I hear the noise of an axe when we passed near the jonction of Red Ridge Trail going up to North Moat. It was probably you. You did a great job, thank you.
hey. i remembered your post a couple of weeks back. trail looked good. actually removed very little additional blowdown from pine bend (some leaners up high), but took some good ones off of kate sleeper and beyond for sure. those forest service work days are a great idea. seems like you can have a really big impact in a short amount of time with a good group of folks.
I'm really glad about it too...its a nice way to give back..you know, when the "lists" were all behind me I still kept plugging at rounds and grids, but for me, I have found a certain satisfaction to working in the woods. For me, its a nice balance.
Chris, you're more than welcome to clear some blowdowns. I'm hoping to get up there in the next few weeks, now that my racing season has slowed down. Thanks for the help!
Single or double? goo-gle Hickory Handle Store. It's on ebay. All of their #1 hickory handles are top notch. They are a bit pricey but the grain is super straight. It's a light colored hickory though if that matters (you can always stain it). Also the Gransfors Bruks replacement handle for the American felling axe. 31" curved; or 31" or 35" straight would probably fit or their double bit (if it's a double bit). $30 from http://www.omahaknife.com/gransfors.htm Email them for details. I've bought a handle from omaha before. Good service. It's a sweet handle.
cool. I got a true temper kelly perfect from ebay that I need a handle for. Where did you get your handle? I've had a hard time finding a good one with the correct grain.
