I have not used MSR's. I have used the Tubbs Altitude and Pinnacle. You may want to at least look at the Pinnacle. In my opinion, the Viper Cramp-ons on them are much better than the Alttitude cramp-ons.

Yes, they are the strap type bindings. They are on the Tubbs Adventure model and last year they were on the Tubbs Altitude. The binding on the Tubbs Mountain shoe is another possibility. It might be pricey. I would recommend you call Tubbs and ask.
