My feet are usually warm in my Koflach Degrees but I wear smartwool Expedition socks with a light hiker underneath. When actively hiking my feet are almost too warm with this combo, when not active I am just fine.
Sort of related, I was dayhiking in Vermont up near Lake Champlain one day yeasrs ago, I stumbled upon a pile of bones. Freaked me out. After I ran I decided to go back. I discovered that they were deer and assorted animal bones. A BIG pile of them. After investigating further I saw a...
I also have the BD winter Bivy. I really like it lots of room. I use it in the fall and spring under a tarp and in leanot's to help keep the bag clean.
I have also used it under the stars in snow but I do use a ground cloth under me(tyvek).
I have heard that you really cut the breathability when you double layer the breathable fabrics. I can't back this up with facts but it makes sense to me.
I use the Winter Bivy and think it really works well. I use it for leantos, tarping and just sleeping under the stars. I wouldn't trust...

I postholed up to my knee on Plataue mtn in June, granted it was just one step but it was cold with my shorts on. And I saw some really small patches of snow and ice last weekend on Slide.
I was with Lumberzac last weekend and there are signs on the easment going to Giant ledge that say please stay on the trail, no camping. It is a longer hike going that way than from the hairpin turn parking area but it is alot easier especially in the dark. The trail up from the parking area...
Sorry I was late but if you get up there again you need to hike into Katterskil falls.
It is right on rte 28 I think on the way to Hunter from the thru way.
