Joe, Thanks for the trail info. You're right about the snowmelt making for miserable hiking this time of year; pat yourself on the back for having saved me several $100 in gas/hotel just to be disappointed.

Do bear in mind that the snowmelt resulting from this heatwave is going to make for "interesting" river crossings or a very moist bushwhack... not saying it can't be done, but it would not be for the faint of heart. I'd have my pack unbuckled in case you go under.

Well, this didn't fit in any other forum here. But I thought that some might enjoy seeing images of an altogether different type of peak-bagging. I don't know anything beyond that he is surveying for damage done during a recent earthquake and the fact that it's still closed pending repairs.

My goodness... every 3k in the Granite State. According to Google results, there's 175 of these peaks... I can't image- Bushwhack City, I'm sure. Googling also reveals that there is a NH 1,000 Highest- do they plan on- oh, I won't even ask. In any case, congratulations.

Plus at age 42, it's such a thrill to zip past your 18, low 20-something college classmates going up 3 flights of stairs. 30 feet elevation gain... no problem! It's hard to stifle a snarky "That's why you should bag peaks" comment while they look on huffing & puffing!

Nope, that's not me. I hate the stuff- makes it easier to lose the trail, if you decide to go through it, it's a pain if you have any traction on... yuck. I'm just a peakbagger checking off another list.
