    What hangs from your pack?

I usually attach stuff that I find on the trail to the outside of my pack, it seems to make it easier to find the owner if they can see their gear hanging there. :) Although I did have to backtrack half a mile on the way to Owl's head after realizing one of a pair of found Crocs had fallin...

    Mt Washington summit crowds

I don't really care about the crowds either way anymore. I have used the restrooms and if the restaurant wasn't there I would never have known what a Whoopie Pie looks like or more importantly what happens when your sister asks for a "little taste".

catching a ride in the whites

The Shuttle Connection card says "Wherever to wherever, whenever" 603-745-3140 I ended up not needing them so I have no actual experience. Thanks Lei :)

    Food Saver problem

If it's happened more than once it's probably not something you did and if it was the bag I don't think it would vacuum. It sounds like the sealing strip may not be working properly. I would seal in some ice cubes, melt them and see if the water can be pushed out through the seams. It might...

How much winter gear "Haven't" you used this "winter"?

For me it hasn't been only what winter gear I haven't used. XC skis a couple of times in not so good conditions. Snowshoes once. Mittens and parka not at all, etc. But, how much summer gear I have used. Shorts and t-shirts with a pull-over fleece way too often. Oh well, there's still time and...

    What should I have done?

This past Saturday between Washington and the hut I tried the "excuse me" method. I caught up with a hiker and stayed behind him for 15 seconds or so and when he looked at me but didn't step aside I politely said "excuse me, can I get by" and then thanked him. From his sort of "you're welcome"...

Kinsmans via Mt. Kinsman Trail Aug. 21

:o :o :o Congratulations!! I was there in spirit :D I got a late (real late start) so I figured I'd just go up the Kinsman Ridge trail until I met up with the group and hike back out. I know I couldn't make it in time and my boots were still wet from the Presi Traverse Saturday (Jefferson...

    Washing a backpack ???

I use Woolite on gentle cycle too. But I use Biz rather than chlorine bleach. I think it's easier on the threads and it's got enzimes that seem to help with the odors. I concur with the air dry. I use this same process on my wicking shirts with good results.
