    FOT48 Carter Dome

I really didn't see much. Makes sense considering how the trail runs. I saw more erosion on the 19Mile Brook than along the Carter Dome. Im sure it needs some TLC, but nothing like some trails need.

New England Hundred Highest Finish, Chain of Ponds Snow, 9/13/11

Well Done. Picked a good day to do it.

    helicopter on garfield

We were on Carter Dome and did not see the Black Hawk. I did not even know about it until I saw the 2011 Canon Gallery on the FOT48 site.

AT flooding: What do thru-hikers do ?

Someone spends five months walking the trail and someone wants to judge them. Goes to show who they actually are.

    FOT48 Carter Dome

I'd originally wanted to sign up for West Bond. My aunt, who is just getting into hiking, wanted to come along. She is not yet ready for an overnighter, and nor a 16 mile day. Scratch West Bond. Her father, my grandfather, used to deer hunt on Carter Dome way back in the day. My grandfather...

Mahoosuc area loop - Day hike or short backpack ideas?

I look forward to seeing the trail report. This hike was on the "to do" list for August, but things didn't quite work out.

Mahoosuc area loop - Day hike or short backpack ideas?

If you put it off until next year, you can join us and not need to do a loop. We are going to start from RT 2 and hike out the dirt road near Speck Pond.

    Leave no Trace...Really?

I was uncomfortably coached by an aging park ranger in Baxter while stopping at Chimney Pond about packing out my poop. She talked for more than ten minutes about the importance of packing it out, and how much of a recent trend it has been that people have pooped in the alpine (her words, not...

Yeah, seeing Timmy and Big Z hoisting the cup must have been pretty rough....

Flags on the 48 - 2011 - The Ten Year Anniversary

Im covering Carter Dome. Are there any peaks that you believe are not covered? I have a 6x10 flag for our peak, and my two kids each have a 3X5 flag, plus we have some extra PVC. Being that we have a small group of adults coming along, if Wildcat D or one of the carters isnt covered, contact...

I bet the CVR is going to take a pounding from Irene. We did these same peaks at the beginning of the summer and Im now glad that we did.

Field and Willey in a Minute and a Half

Not sure if you're a coffee drinker or not, but the stretches of 95 from Waterville-Bangor, and from Bangor to Millenockett are MIND NUMBING. Barely any other vehicles. Both trips this year, Gabriel rode shotgun just to keep me awake. Not sure if its on your Baxter "to-do" list, but I'd...
