My buddies and I are going to hit MacNaughton going through scott/wallface ponds this weekend. Anyone been there lately. Any luck on trail being broken? Hopefully yes as I don't feel too much like spruce traps this weekend :) Thanks for your thoughts. Shadow

Hi All, Quick question for this learned population. I plan on a winter trip to do Macnaughton in a few weeks, but don't have my winter bag anymore. What do you all think about using a 30 and a 40 degree together (one inside of the other)? Any recs on what should be the outside bag? Thanks...

Coming in from upper works and before you get to wallface mt. and indian pass, there is a stream from wallface ponds that intersects the trail. Has anyone climbed MacNaughton going up this stream bed (or know if it is doable). Seems like it would cut out a lot of mileage. thanks. Shadow

You can try Harriman State Park which is only about 1/2 hr north of NYC up the Palisades Parkway. Its very wooded (and even remote if your psyched). Plus you can get some pretty nice views.

Hi All, I'm a long time lurker and first time poster and happy to be part of this Great Site!!! Question: I notice in the USGS topo maps that there is a shelter just off the Van Hoevenberg Trail between Marcy Dam and the trail to Phelps Summit (on Phelps Brook). However, I don't see this...
