ADK question - Activities with a three-year old

I think Bubba is actually referring to "Owls Head" on Rt. 73. This is a great peak and has a lot of blueberry bushes on the way up. At the top is a great view of Cascade, and it would probably take less than an hour with a young first timer. I think you should not push kids to reach the top...

    going through the ice

I went through at Flowed Lands a couple years ago. It was after a warm spell had sent all the runoff on top of the frozen lake making a deep slush on top of the ice. Then that was covered by a fresh layer of powder. I was on a solo hike across the lake, all of a sudden it felt like jello, and...

    Winter 46 Poll

Although in general it is much more difficult......I prefer a lot of snow, for many reasons. Sometimes it helps get over "stuff", but of course it brings traps and breaking trail into the equation. I don't like traps, but do like breaking trail and the routefinding aspect of virgin deep snow...

Climbers stranded on hood as we speak

I've never heard the "Y is a signal for yes". That sure looks like an acnchor, especially because of the way it is routed up to the rock formation, and the knot........

    White Mountain Summit coordinates?

What datum are these points? WGS84? Or NAD27? That would probably be a good piece of info to include with your list........

Seriously, would anyone who actually hikes or camps buy this?

I wonder how effective it is below zero F. With a bladder I dont have freezing problems until it gets below 15 anyway. Blow the liquid out of the hose, then stick the mouthpiece and as much hose as you can down your collar to keep them flowing. But most of the time lately I find myself...

winter exercises..do you change your routine...?

There's an abandoned ski slope near Binghamton with a great sustained steep incline (Innsbrook USA, now called Aqua Tera Park) that I like to go to before work with a backpack full of sand and ankle weights. I really don't like gyms so try to do as much as I can making up wierd things to do to...
