what's the status of the fire tower and subsequent views up there? i know the tower was restored but i've heard conflicting news as to whether it was still open.

hello all- wanted to know if there are any views from this small peak at the beginning of the wilmington trail to whiteface and how the trail is. will be in the area and am looking for a short, easy hike up a mountain for some less experienced folks. any info much appreciated.

hey all- going to be in the northern catskills area this weekend and am looking for info on how to get to the huntersfield trailhead. i've found a few random blurbs through google, but most are confusing when looking at my nys atlas. any help appreciated! :)

For the Catskills you can't go wrong with Giant Ledge.... easy and great views.

matt- wolf lake road is not a public road..... check out this link http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/reg5/hptrails.html to the dec site and about halfway down that page, under the title specific notices for the high peaks wilderness, you'll see it clearly stated in the second bulletin.

anybody know if there are any good camping areas on cheney pond that are accessible by canoe? any canoe access to lester flow from cheney either? any help appreciated :)

i spend most of my time outdoors, like some others here, i work outside everyday for at least 8hrs. then i try to spend at least 2 weekends a month hiking/packpacking/canoeing. i walk or run for exercise which is also done outside. i'd guess that i'm way above that 2%. on days like today though...
