Saturday I made a 13-mile loop north of RT2 in Randolph and saw almost no snow. I did not hike along the Crescent Ridge but some other hikers reported some patches of rotten snow and monorail but nothing constant.

They were pretty quick about posting some of the other roads east of Evans Notch as they opened (Patte Brook, for example). I think 113 may have just opened yesterday morning. I did notice that some in the fall were never marked as closed.

Rt 113 through Evans Notch is open as of this afternoon. I went up from Rt 2 in Gilead. The Wild River Rd to the campground is still gated, however.

"Foot travel" includes skis, snowshoes, and the like. It is meant to exclude motorized vehicles and often bicycles. Skiing is, as far as I know, permitted on any hiking trail in the Whites, although it may not always be advisable.

I never knew this old trail existed. I'd be interested in checking it out as I love that area. -vegematic

I'll give a vote to include Eastman in your itinerary. It's quite a nice little peak with views in all directions if you wander around the partially-treed summit area. -vegematic
