    Resole Hiking Boots?

boots Hey Earl I had a pair of leather boots resoled years ago. I, like you, loved the boots but wore the soles out. I had them done and my only complaint was that they were so much heavier with new rubber on them. As you wear them and the soles get smaller (and lighter) you don't notice it...

A Gentle Reminder About Dogs on Trails

Dogs on the trail I agree totally with dvbl. If you want to bring your dogs hiking, thats fine. BUT keep them under control. (That means on a leash) You wouldn't walk down the street at home with your dog not on a leash. Please please don't tell me "Oh he is friendly". This weekend I heard...

Mt. Adams on a beautiful day

Last week it was a rainy Trypyramids loop. This weekend my friend Mark (ATLTPCT) suggested a hike up Mt Adams on some lesser used trails. So off we went from Lowe's Store. Up the Lowe's Path, take a right in The Link and hook up with the Israel Ridge Path to Mt. Adams. Trails are in great shape...

    What does one do...?

I have read all of these posts, an though I have had very few "issues" in the mountains with folks doing stupid things, I guess the way I usually handle these things is to try to be as non-confrontational as possible. I was behind someone on the OBP one time and I started picking up Poland...

    Tuckerman's Ravine

Huntington Vs. Tuckerman There is no comparison between the 2. Huntington is much more difficult than Tucks. Much more exposure and much steeper. Refer to the AMC guidebook for a very good description of this trail. Good luck and Happy Hiking.

Aborted Presi Traverse - the wrath of Mother Nature - 6/11/06

I can really relate about Sunday While you guys were getting blown off Madison, a friend and I was getting knocked around on Jefferson on a Caps Ridge / Castle Ridge loop . A VERY tough day in the mountains. I can really relate to the slippery slimy rocks. I also took numerous falls and slips...

    Are you a Gearoholic?

Gear I am NOT a gearaholic! But I am a "packaholic". I usually go though a whole "need" versus " want" argument with myself when looking at new gear and end up deciding that I don't REALLY "need" it and end up not buying anything. But packs are a different story, I have 10 ranging from a...

    Zeacliff or ? advice needed??

zeacliff Dave's correct, arrange to take the shuttle in to the trailhead at the end of Zealand Rd. The hike in from there is very nice, easy and scenic, and you get to stop at the Hut for a break, water and facilities both on the way in and out. The trail above the Hut up to the ridge is a...

West Bond -Save the best for last I finished last month on West Bond on a clear day. I could not asked for a better place to finish. The views were outstanding. Boot Spur / Lions Head?

Boot Spur I have been up Boot Spur as well as the other routes. I enjoyed Boot Spur as it is less crowded and gives one a different perspective of the whole area. Coming down Lion's Head is probably the easiest. Coming down Tucks does a number on your knees. Have fun.
