You have missed the entire point of this "worst weather" claim. Go reread the posts and try to understand that the focus for "worst weather", according to the Mt Washington observers, is the "changeable climate" in short period. They addimantly claim Mt Wash does not have the coldest temps, or...

You are correct, Mt Washington won't produce world records in those catagories. But can take a hit on the chin from a Hurricane which far out weighs those conditions in the damage dept. What about wildfires? "Figure skating?" Not really, but point taken.

Keep it simple, thats the focus. You can pick a weather station on each continent for that matter, not just the US. Throw in Death Valley or the South pole, but include all 5 categories at each location. Mt Washington Observatory makes its claim based on the wide veriety of conditons that...

Agreed. However the single "number" as converted by your method would be difficult to combine the 5 categories of differing units of measure. I was thinking of simply rating each location in study by assending order of record. Each catagory would count for 20% of value in a single assending...

Your reply itself is full of inaccuracy. There has yet to be recorded a wind velocity for a tornado which can beat the Mt Washington record, at least for measurements taken the same way. Hurricane Gilbert had measurements of sustained 200+ taken at 10,000 ft from NOAA air survailence. Perhaps...

Flags on the 48 Last year we were buzzed quite closely during Flags on the 48 memorial flag fly 9/11. I suspect they know we will be there again this Saturday 9/9 and perhaps they will perform another outstanding and thrilling fly-by!

Agreed! Camp 16 in the Pemi looked EXACTLY like that 20 years ago, which was why it had been shut down. Most areas in the Pemi are only "regulated" by the need to rotate the sites to new locations. Guyot site may seem regulated by being in the watchfull eyes of the caretaker, however it's far...

I have seen Guyot when there was NO overflow camping. So in my eyes I now see a region which gets used all too frequently, with all the associated catholes being dug. I mean, who "really" goes all they way down to the designated camp zone to poop in the crapper shack where it is maintained...

Guyot alread IS tent platforms. Which is used beyond capacity forcing others to overflow area, which is getting trashed. :confused: What good is making MORE platforms going to solve? People will still camp beyond capacity and strain the watertable/grounds with waste. Nobody has mentioned yet...

Credit to the "Croos" Hey, nobody has mentioned that the staff of each AMC Hut must go through a SARR program to have the ability to rescue those in distress. This makes each huts location a strategic safe haven and dispatch quarters. I have wintenssed first hand the "Croo" dispatched out...
