Here's another spring question. When's the earliest people recall blackflies, etc... in the Whites and in Baxter SP? I'm thinking of scheduling a week off in mid-May. Think I'll get away unscathed?

I'm wondering if anyone remembers approximately when in the spring Haystack Road typically opens for trailhead access and camping? I tried the Forest Service site - http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/white_mountain/recreation/roads_status.php - but that only lists what is opened now.
