    Waterfalls in Winter

Angel Falls in Maine Angels Falls off Route 17 in western Maine is one of my favorites--hard to get to the trailhead in winter without skiis or a snow machine but it is worth the work to get there.http://www.newenglandwaterfalls.com/waterfall.php?name=Angel%20Falls

KENTUCKY - Hiking options (if any)

Cumberland Plateau There are some nice hikes and parks on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee--nicer, cheaper and probably less crowded than Mammoth Cave but still a drive from Monticello.

Lost Jack Russell Terrier on Mt. Chocoura

I was hiking today on the Liberty Trail and met a family at the cabin with a Jack Russell Terrier named Jack. When I saw them again in the parking lot at the end of the hike Jack was missing. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone hiking in the area to keep your eyes open for a cute little...

Descending the Dudley Trail - Katahdin

I descended Dudley a few years ago and thought it was really difficult. I am usually kind of slow and cautious going down any of the trails on Katahdin--but Dudley was definitely the most frightening descent for me. I would go up it again but not down.

Maine law - this was - Injured hiker carried 8 miles to safety

What the definition of summon is My guess is that in practice this relates to command lines of authority for local law enforcement and fire and rescue, border patrol, etc, since sometimes there can be issues with who can do what, and this would let the commissioner "summon" anyone, including...

Injured hiker carried 8 miles to safety

Maine law I could not find a statute that requires a person to render aid under Maine law except in the case of a firearm accident (where the person responsible for the wound is required to render aid) or in the already mentioned motor vehicle statute. The Fall 2007 Maine Bar Journal had a...
