    In need of Knee advice

I felt the kneed to chime in on this post. I had an acute injury 40 years ago to my left knee. Was never diagnosed properly, stayed active (basketball, volleyball, skiing) and eventually reached a point that the throbbing pain in the middle of the night was too much. After several different docs...

    Light Traction Devices

I have used the Hillsound Freestep..did not care for them. Price was right but not enough substance and they roll off your boots on steep trails. IMO not for 4k trails but fine for the golf course or flat walking. dont know about the yax traks but not impressed with any of their other offerings...

    Hat 102

I have used the same windblock polar tech midweight hat for years..kind of a signature thing so I know where you are coming from when you lost your old friend. For the real cold days I also have a thin and thick balaclava and a back up arcteryk beanie. I have a dome perignon as well but it too...

    Kahtoola versus Hillsounds

These, the Katooluh mini crampons are what I use for the hard blue trail ice and they worked well on ice and frozen granular yesterday. Also have the g-10 cause..that is what is best sometimes. I like the way the katoolah ones go on quickly and cinch up well. Tried the aluminum ones they offer...

Which warms you up faster, up or down? (Winter)

Funny, on cold ascents sometimes my feet get chilled. Can always count on them warming up in a few minutes on descent. I for sure generate plenty of heat on descent and end up in essentially the same layers I climbed in. The key for me is gearing up just before summit and getting jacket and...

    WMNF Forest Road Status

Probably time to re start this thread. While coming north today there was quite a bit of ice on roads with 1-3 inches of snow Gale River Road, Haystack Road, Zealand Road open Drove up to Zealand, 2-3 inches of snow, a bit rutted. The hill would be slick with out 4 wheel drive
