New AMC Maine Mountain Guide is out

Sorry, I was confused, the issue is that the included maps (even in the new one, someone just told me) don't cover them as mentioned by Rhody above. I also got the Winderness Company one from the Mountain Wanderer. The new guide includes the new (and pretty boring trail after #4) to the...

New AMC Maine Mountain Guide is out

Isn't still the case that the Rangeley area is not covered?

    Chandler/Sable

Years ago, we did a Baldfaces-Sable-Chandler-Eastman loop, hardest part was following the Slippery Brook trail in the dark. Mostly open woods with very few blazes.

The Mammut Ultimate key difference is pit zips, not common all on soft shells, but they do tend to open all the way down...

    Current Maine 4K List

The NE67 list has 14 ME peaks (same for the 111/115 list), including Spaulding and Redington. Never heard about Saddleback -The Horn being unranked...

    1984 Osseo Route?

Btw, is the access from the condos still good? Did Whaleback & Coolidge 10 years ago and never returned and now I'm helping a friend doing her NH100.

Year Round Campgrounds Near "Hubs" Of NH And ME Hiking

Yup and there is a water pump. There is also Fourth Iron, but it's a (short) walk-in. If I recall correctly, Robert at the Apple Hill in Bethlehem told me he never really close, but we never stayed there in winter so I don't know much.

Hiking two trails with a bad rep (that they may not deserve).

Recently discovered Israel Ridge path and liked it, but you need to do the same first crossing as Castle/Castle ravine. I don't like Jefferson when Jefferson notch road is open, it's too crowded ;)

    Access to Monadnock, VT

Yeah, it seems the construction is still going on and that's why it was confusing for the hiker that reported this to me.

    Access to Monadnock, VT

Someone told me the landowner put a sign to keep people off his lawn, but it wasn't clear is access is still allowed or not, does someone know more about it? Been there only once years ago.

    NE111, first finishers?

Was always fun to find old entries of winter bushwhacks from Tom (and Diane) in the ME 3k canisters. I heard he got pretty close to finish the winter 777 but never did. Oncoman is getting close now.

    NE111, first finishers?

    Same, first few finishers.

    NE111, first finishers?

Does your source includes the Winter finishers too?

    NE111, first finishers?

Indeed it is, I assume the number of finishers were pretty low until at least the '80?

    NE111, first finishers?

Hi, There is some decent info on the history of the 46ers and the New England 67 on the web, but I couldn't find the first finishers of the combined list (excluding the lastest changes in the '90), not necessarily looking for their names, but at least the decade.

    Canines at altitude.

We saw plenty of dogs on easy 14ers on our recent trip to CO, even a brown lab going for Torreys's Kelso ridge (the guy looked like an experienced climber, kinco gloves repaired with duct tape).

    Ageism or Irresponsibility?

I think Gerry Roach agrees with you : Legendary Colorado climber Gerry Roach injured in 13er climb

Anyone active on the 3k lists?

We just finished New Eng. 3k (451) on Twin Peaks in ME and there was very few recent entries in the canister, even by under 3500' ME standards. I know someone at 774/777 who is eager to finish, me and my partner are kinda stuck close to 770 with a few private ones in NY and a trip to PA that we...

    East Inlet rd. status inquiry

That last part was recently re-worked and was muddy, but we didn't need to reach the pond, not sure we would have made it.
