    Trail conditions on Mt Osceola

Thanks for your reply. I figured that I should expect mud and wet trails, I was just trying to convince myself that it won’t be too slippery.

    Trail conditions on Mt Osceola

I have not done a lot of hiking in the White Mountains in the past two years, although I completed the 48 several years ago. Does anyone know how muddy / wet and slippery Mt Osceola (or something nearby) is today 7/22/23? I’d like to hike it tomorrow. Thanks from Greenpoint

Hiker Rescue yesterday on Washington (Mt Clay)

A friend and I were planning on hiking the traverse this past weekend but called it off on Wednesday due to the nasty weather predictions. I wish more people would watch weather reports and respect the mountains for the danger it can bring. We'll try for another weekend. So we walk a few more...

    My.Washington

I’m planning on hiking Washington this Memorial Day weekend. I know it’s still a few weeks away but does anybody know what the snow conditions are like on the Boott Spur and Lions Head trails?

    Thanks for the information

    Shelters

I realize the AMC Huts are closed for the season but does anyone know if this pertains to the shelters as well - in particular Guyot? Is there still access if I happen to be out that way some day and am looking for a place to stay for the night?

    parking

Can anyone update me on the current parking situation in the Crawford Notch area? I see on the NH state parks site that parking is by reservation only and that they fill up quickly. I had planned to camp in the White Mtns this coming weekend, but if I can't park anywhere that may change my...

    Arethusa Falls

Maybe I should start a different thread asking about Arethusa Falls!!!

    Arethusa Falls

I was thinking more of the falls itself. Was it impressive or just a dribble? I've seen both but was hoping to show others only if the falls was impressive

    Arethusa Falls

Has anybody recently hiked to Arethusa Falls? It’s been dry here in Massachusetts so I assume it’s been the same in NH. I’m planning on being in the area in a few weeks and am trying to decide on whether or not to include a trip to the falls. Thanks

    hikes in the Adirondacks

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have some reading to do tonight

    hikes in the Adirondacks

Thanks for that. The mountains I mentioned are about a 6-8 hour round trip hike, not too strenuous and have nice views. We're coming from Central Massachusetts and have no particular destination in mind yet - just somewhere in the Adirondacks.

    hikes in the Adirondacks

My wife and I have hiked for years in the White Mountains but never in the Adirondacks. We're looking to do a little hiking there in June and we're looking to start off with a hike equivalent in effort to Garfield, Chocorua or Osceola, if any of you are familiar with those in the White Mountains.

    Thank you. Much appreciated

    Mt. Cardigan

My wife and I thinking about hiking up Mt. Cardigan this Friday via the West Ridge Trail. Has anybody been to the summit recently and (hopefully) confirm that there's no snow or ice there yet?

    South Twin

Thanks for all the input. With the temperature here in Massachusetts at 90 degrees, it's hard to imagine snow anywhere in the region. I'll rethink my plans and look for something more southerly and maybe not as high in elevation. Thank again.

    South Twin

Weather permitting, I'm hoping to hike up to South Twin on Sunday May 13th by way of Gale River Trail and Garfield Ridge Trail. I'm not prepared to hike in the snow so I need to know if anybody is going up that way soon or has gone recently? Are the trails snow free? Maybe it's still too early...

    drones

We were the only hikers on the mountaintop. The drone that hovered over my wife was 30 to 40 feet over her as she went to the bathroom. What do you think the purpose of this view was for the drone operator?

    drones

Thanks for all the support. Hopefully this idea of spying on people will die down.

    drones

Has anybody had any issues with drones flying overhead while trying to enjoy the peace & quiet of a summit? My wife and I were on top of Middle Sugarloaf yesterday and were the only ones there for a short while. The view was beautiful and it was nice to have it to ourselves. My wife went off to...
