    San Gorgonio Mountain - December 3, 2023

Enjoyed your video, Seth. Looked like a long slog - that's a lot of elevation gain and miles for one day. Congrats!

    WMG Redlining finish

Congratulations - that's an amazing achievement. :) I am curious - what were some of your favorite trails that fall off the beaten path?

Government Shutdown - Outdoors related please

I am a trail adopter for a 1.5 mile section of the AT as it runs through Franconia Notch on the Cascade Brook trail. Since I volunteered years ago via the AMC, I do wonder if I will receive similar instructions to the National Forest Service. ;)

Petition to change the name of Mt Washington

How about Darby Field? ;) Only three syllables, and it certainly rolls off the lips easier than Agiocochook.

    Route to Owls Head

I'm planning a hike to Owls Head, and have seen a lot of stories about using the Black Pond bushwhack and the bushwhack around the slide up to the peak of Owls Head. I am debating whether to take the traditional route, or use either of these bushwhacks. Are these bushwhacks utilized only in...

Thanks for sharing the photos and videos. Where is the plane crash monument relative to the trail?

    Less People Hiking?

I have become a huge fan of weekday hiking, and rarely hike on the weekends anymore. I'm fortunate that I have more vacation time than I know what to do with, so I tend to cherry pick good weekdays to hike. Today (Monday) I did my trail maintenance duties on the lower section of the Cascade...

Overnight at Ethan Pond and Willey Range/Zealand Notch Loop

Enjoyed your trip report and video. I've always loved that stretch of trail between Willey and Field. What were the odds that you had the three peaks to yourself during the holiday weekend? Always wanted to explore the A-Z between Tom and Zealand, so thanks for taking me there.

Mt. Cannon and the Kinsmans - May 26, 2023

Hey Seth - I really enjoy your hiking videos. I have often wondered how you get so many good video clips of yourself while hiking alone? Do you strap your phone/camera/go-pro to a tree or mount it on a tripod? Also like your choice in music. Reminds me a bit of some of the adventures that...

B18 bomber crash site on Waternomee

Here’s a link to the story of the bomber crash: The World War II Bomber That Crashed In New Hampshire - New England Historical Society There’s an excellent short (26 pg) book about this adventure available at the Mountain Wanderer: Night the Bomber Crashed Book - Bondcliff Books

B18 bomber crash site on Waternomee

Last Monday I hiked up to the B18 bomber crash site on Mt Waternomee. This one had been on my list for a long time, and it turned out to be a perfect day for this solo hike. I parked at the unofficial Walker Brook trailhead on Rte 118 in Woodstock, not too far from Lost River Gorge. The...

    Mt. Tremont

That's really awesome! I love many of these "less traveled" trails. The day that I hike Tremont, I only saw 2-3 people all day.

    Mt. Tremont

Hiked Mt Tremont last summer, expecting it to be another somewhat gentle climb to a 3000 ft peak on the 52WAV list. As Ken pointed out, the second half of the hike was surprisingly steep - but the view of Sawyer Pond at the top was magnificent.

    Greetings Everyone!

It only took me 33 years to achieve. At this rate, I don't think I'm going to complete a second lap around the planet. ;)

Thanks Ken. Feels like the 1642 journey was just yesterday. ;)

    Greetings Everyone!

I have been “lurking in the background” and following this website for more than 15 years. I would have joined years ago but did not know anyone in the group personally. I have learned a lot from this group over the years and picked up some excellent tips. I hope that I can provide some value...
