Just curious if anyone's taken a look at or driven by Whaleback this week. Is there enough snow on the trails to make for a decent day of skiing (I know the mountain's closed)? Also, has anyone been up Cardigan this week?

Since I'm stuck down in the flatlands, I was hoping folks could check in with snowpack reports from the Whites and the Greens. Any reports from Moosliauke, Cardigan, Presidentials, Northern VT? How much snow is on the ground up there?

Hey Dave, This brings up an interesting topic. Are snowmobiles allowed up there in the winter? Does anyone happen to know if there are good spots where snowmobile-accessed downhill skiing might exist?

I've never been to Acadia. I'm heading up to Bar Harbor for my honeymoon in a few weeks and would like to go camping for a night or two. Any recommendations? I have no idea where to go but I'd prefer to go somewhere remote - where RVs and cars aren't allowed.

We hadn't heard anything when we checked in at Pinkham Notch. They said the conditions would be pretty good in GoS. There was no word of the slide.

Skinned up GoS trail on Saturday morning with a friend. Low snow cover made it tough in some places but I never had to take off the skis. By the time we got to the bottom of the gullies, the thick fog had cleared revealing very good snow cover above timberline - but the heavy rains on Friday...

Did you happen to see anyone downhill skiing while you were there? The snow looks great and there are a few lines off the high ridges that look idea for skiing. Was the snow in good condition?
