 Ouch!
Man I am sorry to hear you got hurt, but jeepers bubba, aren't inverted airs best done with skis attached to the feet ;)
I hope you can get through these days of soreness well and heal up without loosing any of your humor.
Not sure that it is still there but there was a memorial cross placed on the shore about 100 meters North of the old shelter location. Kind of a nice spot actually.
Super image...cool packs! That's a wonderful spot for an overnight, but it is a National Scenic Area...maybe setting that status had something to do with the shelter being moved.
I stayed there in a cozy snow cave a few winters ago so I could get some photos with dawn light on the cliffs...
The current map on Topozone is out of date. The NE end of the Ocseola Trail is in Mad River Gap, right at the height of land which is also the bound of the East Branch drainage of the Pemi. The trail roughly follows the boundary of the drainage as it heads westsouthwest from the Mad River Gap...

food bag raids might be a problem...there are bunches of four-legged, redheads with attitude in both locations. If you aren't taking snowshoes you might want to stick with the Liberty Cabin.
Warning, it was a little stinky from some rude persons last summer...I have always avoided it...it is...
It is a blast! Did that a few years back with a buddy so we could work on self arrest at higher speeds. we used 330 feet of 7mm double/dry cord as a precaution and dyneema slings as harnesses (to minimize the drag as compared to real harnesses).
The trick was to run out the slide and arrest...
howdy: I have a theory that Black Flies have a secret weapon. Could it be an enzyme in their saliva that creates memory loss? I mention this because I see an awful lot of hikers in the woods in June...peak season for NE blackflies.
Now what was I saying....????
