The annual source to the sea event is heading down the Androscoggin river. The first events were this weekend up in the Lake Umbagog area and they will sloly be working their way down the river for the next 2 weekends. This Thursday there is short flatwater paddle from Milan to Berlin with a Brewfest in Berlin after the paddle. The Brewfest is free if you paddle otherwise there is fee. There are some local outfitters offering free use of kayaks but arrangements must be made in advance. Probably not worth driving up from Mass for this one but worth checking out if you are on vacation in the area.

The other events are generally good family trips, they handle the details and usually have some sort of activity. The Androscoggin is a lot wilder than most folks expect, with remarkably little development and lots of wildlife all the way down the river. Bald eagles have most of the river staked out and they frequently are spotted along with less frequent black bears and moose.
