There are 5 main forums on VFTT for hiking.
Anyone else on here feel that they could perhaps be consolidated down to like 2-3?

I don't know, just an idea. There is limited traffic on the NY Forum, - Maybe General Backcountry, New England and NY should all be one forum? (With the imperative that posters need to specify which region they are talking about in the respective threads/posts so to avoid confusion). And maybe that would actually increase use because people who only hang out on one forum now, would see the others more readily. Again, just a thought.

Actually, after signing in, if you click on "New Posts" I believe the the first four forums are consolidated. I may be wrong but I don't believe the "Trip Reports" and "Photography" are included. I'm not sure about "Lost and Found". I've seen some lost items mentioned but not sure what forum they came from.

I don't see a lot of advantage to merging the forums if, as I suspect, most people use the "New Posts" button.

Moderator Note: Moving this to Site Help, which is the proper forum for this sort of thing. :)

funny, I've been here for years but never considered or noticed clicking on the new posts link. Will do so from now on. :)

I just hit the 'What's New' button, and see all the posts that have come up recently. Slightly different format that I tend to prefer. Also, in the threads themselves I sort newest to oldest, which makes it much easier to navigate. You can change the option in your preferences.
