We had wonderful weather for looking at some of the Lakes and ponds of the St. Regis Canoe Wilderness, and Upper Saranac Lake. We arrived about 10 am on Friday morning and set up camp at campsite #1 on the largest island on Follonsby Clear Pond.

This campsite is on the St. Regis Canoe Outfitters Paddler's Map as the closest to Route 30 and only 0.3 miles to the parking area. There was some road noise associated with it, however it was clean, with an outhouse and not too camped out. We set up our gear, had a beer (or 2) and headed north in unladen canoes/kayaks to do a loop of Follonsby/Pollywog/Little Pollywog/Horseshoe Ponds. There was 4 short carries of no more than 500 feet. Lots of paddlers on Follonsby Clear Pond but none on the other lakes.

Saturday started out rather foggy.

But it cleared nicely by 10 am so we headed out on our long paddle day onto Upper Saranac Lake. First we visited Wade on Saganaw Bay. Wade had helped Henry and me out of a jamb a couple years ago when we locked keys in the car. Then we headed to Buck Island for lunch, then into Square Bay where the autumn colors were beautiful.
