Had climbed this peak a few decades ago but decided it was time to go back. Road names on ground did not match USGS and DeLorme, the road you want off Winter St is now Veterans Park Rd which becomes Cat Hole Rd. Park at beginning of Class VI section and walk uphill through gate with sign for cell tower. The area was logged recently and is a little muddy at the bottom.

The main road no longer makes the big switchback shown on the USGS map, but zags L at the powerline to rejoin before the next switchback. Just before the first radio tower, turn L on what looks like a skid road but is the access road to the easterly radio towers. This road has seen less recent use and is actually grassy in places. Bypass the next radio tower and continue to the summit tower, which is not fenced so you have access to the summit rocks. A bushwhack S of 100 feet or so brings you to the top of a major cliff with 180-degree views from the Lempster wind farm to the E around to VT in the W.

On the return, we made a side trip out the access road to the radio tower by USGS marker Green. This outcrop has even more extensive views including much of VT, but was hazy with snow flurries today. About halfway down, we took an old road R that led to a gate with snowmobile signs about .1 mi farther up Cat Hole Rd - this was steeper and drier than the up route.

This is somewhere on my 'To Climb' list. Good to hear that access is not a problem.

It appears to have enough woods around to make a day of it.
