My youngest kid is just finishing up a zero in Franconia today as he's back into home turf and closing in on Katahdin. Stayed in the same hotel we've used for over 20 years as a base for XC trips to Bear Notch, had breakfast at Monroes - a family favorite, and dinner with his "traimly" at Schillings. All hail Spotify, played him Zappa's Stinkfoot, after he disposed of his fourth pair of Speedgoats and socks we would be too embarrassed to send to Darn Tough.

If things work out timing-wise, there's a chance I could get to hug him in Thunderstorm sometime next week. He says he'd like to stay at Crag for old time's sake. We'll see.

From his first trip up there when he was 11. Where does the time go?

Monroe's has the best breakfast I've ever had. I try to stop there for a Western omelette, home fries and white toast whenever I find myself in the area around breakfast time. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it....
