Trail: Ice Gulch Path, Peboamauk Loop, Cook Path, Road Walk

Trail Conditions: On the Ice Gulch Path past the 'marked birch' the trail comes to a recently logged area. The logging obliterated about a hundred yards of the trail. Walk through the logging area keeping to the right, the trail then goes into the woods on the right. It's not well defined where the trail heads into the woods so pay attention. For Peboamauk Loop, the trail heads steeply up mossy rocks on the left side of it, the rest of this loop has mossy and rugged footing. The trail through the Ice Gulch is strenuous but fun, it's easy to follow but it has nasty footing, boulders of all sizes covered with moss in spots. It's like a smaller version of the Mahoosuc Notch but more tedious. Cook Path is in fine shape. Road walk was a few tenths of a mile back to the car.

Comments: Ice Gulch is a perfect spot to visit on a hot summer day. The temps in the gulch are twenty plus degrees cooler in spots and there is ice between the boulders. Pretty cool stuff! Fun hike with Whitney :) Report / Pictures
