This article reflects a conflict I struggle with each time I bring people out in the woods. I am an outdoor educator, and bring groups out on a regular basis, knowing that each time I do, there is a chance I will get a few more kids to connect with nature. However, I am also introducing one more set of footprints into the wilds. I never know whether we should concentrate our footprint, or spread it out. Spreading out is better for flora, concentration is better for the fauna.

I tend toward trying to get students to appreciate quieter, smaller peaks and places, so they learn to love a place for its individual qualities. I'm not sure how what the best path is though.

Take Care.

It was a great weekend. Our thanks for the folks at Baxter State Park and others for the outstanding job of organizing and running the event
