Last Saturday in Salisbury, Connecticut it was in full bloom down low, but just starting to bloom up on the ridge. By this weekend it'll probably be in full bloom up high.

Interesting discussion since I am currently in Tiverton, RI and there is Mountain Laurel blooming in abundance at the Weetamoo Woods Preserve in the uplands along the shores of the Sakonnet River (it's not really a river but the eastern sound of greater Narragansett Bay). The woods encompass an original 1681 "Eight-Rod Way," a cobbled colonial road.

We're lucky to have a lot of mountain laurel on the hill behind our house and it's been poppin' for the last week.

Townsend State Forest in Massachusetts is full of the stuff. It is quite a sight in full bloom, but it can make for some horrific bushwhacking.

As far as I have seen the northern limit for the plant is just north of the New Hampshire state line.

A (y)to this thread. Sad to say, no laurels near my place (yet, give it few decades ).

I used to do a lot of my AT section hiking in the spring and inevitably be on the trail just a few weeks early for the blooms, same with rhododendrons. Our timing did line up one year near upper goose Pond in Mass.

Indeed. I took a short hike in Bigelow Hollow SUN AM and it is getting close to popping. Maybe another week or so. Awesome time of year in NE CT.
