I expect the racers are going to be seeing conditions that are lot more winter than in prior years on Saturday. Avalanche conditions and possible fresh snow the night before and rain/snow forecasted for the day up north (70 degrees down in Mass). Its tough as it normally brings a lot of folks out to cheer them on.

Anyone up there this weekend? Curious what the conditions are like especially on the Sherbie.

I was in Gulf of Skides last weekend and it was fantastic. Beuatidik snow in the Meadows and the trail skied all the way to the car. One of the best days I’ve had in the mountains!

I’m headed up again next weekend and curious if anyone has an update on conditions.

Holy winds Batman!

I know they had 10" of snow over the last few days and then some strong winds to make a nice crust. Temps are not exactly the warm spring like conditions that make for good skiing. I'm expecting wind hardened crust on top of an inch of ice. Trying to decide if its worth the 4 hour drive north to find out it's not skiable.

The Wind played a big part this past week. Leward slopes are loaded with slab. Check the avy report. Moderate to considerable in many parts of both Hunt’s and Tucks. Windward slopes are scratchy. A true thaw/ freeze cycle has not truly set in therefore corning has been minimal to date. https://www.mountwashingtonavalanch...dvisory-for-tuckerman-and-huntington-ravines/

Walked up to Tucks this morning. Beautiful walk. Too many people at Hermit. Avy danger was no joke. Wanted to walk up to the bowl but was strongly discouraged by the people in the red coats. Walked over to Harvard cabin. Didnt realized they closed 3/31. It was buried in snow. Think we may walk up again next week and spend the night in one of the shelters at Hermit Lake. Maybe the snowpack will be better consolidated and the avy danger wont be so high.
