For those who do not like to see snakes, this video is not for you

https://www.centredaily.com/news/nation-world/national/article255744486.html.

I have seen timber rattlers on the AT in NY near the Hudson, and in Western CT as well as NJ near Delaware Water Gap. They are very good at giving warning.

A couple of known denning sites in southern VT have been protected and are kept under watch to prevent anyone from trying to capture the snakes. There have been on and off rumors but no substantiation of den sites in NH but if there were, they would not be divulged to the public due to the pernicious demand for venomous snakes by collectors.

They are reported to be quite hard to really piss off. Sure they will rattle but of all the rattlers they have the least aggressive reputation. One of my encounters was with a large timber rattler in NY on the AT near the Hudson. It was coiled up with its head hidden with the its tail on top. It gave use plenty of warning. I will take an timber rattler over a copperhead anytime.
