Ah! It's POSTS, not FORUMS! That was the problem I was having. Thanks!

Double text in edit function

I am a lousy typist and the lack of autocorrect catches me on occasion so I frequently post and then have to edit. Unfortunately when I go to edit I get random sections of double text inserted on the edit page. I attributed it to my typing abilities but I have come to the conclusion that its the text editor.

Here is an example

Andy B from this site may be able to help with booking may be able to help with booking the firetower cabin on Magalloway. is what it looks like in the editor on occasion but if I post it, the double text doesnt appear. This appears to be intermittent but I do tend to burn up a lot of time deleting double text in the text editor.

I have not heard nor seen this before. What are you using for a computer and browser? It sounds to me like it is local to your machine, i.e., some plugin or addon or keyboard macro or something. Is the duplicated text something you've recently added to the clipboard? From your example, it doesn't appear that the entire post is duplicated.

Hmm.

I've seen this happen also. I'm using IE.

Has this just started (within the last 2 weeks) or has it been happening since the transition? I did apply a recommended editor patch about 2 weeks ago (maybe less).

What browsers/PCs/OS are you guys using?

I have edited this post twice now without any problems. Using Windows7 and Firefox 11.

Is it my browser settings or is anyone else seeing lot's of highlighted hyperlinks within posts that are nonrelated to the content of the post itself?

Disregard this Tim. Found out that some cookie had snuck in called "text enhance". Had nothing to do with this board. Thanks anyhow!

So, clearing this cookie makes the problem go away? Peakbagger - is that your problem as well?

Cookies are supposed to be domain specific, i.e., every cookie has a domain (i.e. www.vftt.org) and then some text. The browser sends all cookies (if the feature is not disabled, or cookies removed by anti-virus software "tracking cookies", etc.) that have domain www.vftt.org with all requests to www.vftt.org. This is how things like "keep me logged in" work (and why you shouldn't use that feature on a public computer -- in fact recent browsers like Firefox and Chrome have "private browsing" mode for use on public computers - this mode does not save any cookies or browser history on the local machine.)

I have windows 7 and IE9 (plus Chrome). I dont edit posts often enough to notice if it happens every time. Its a relatively new computer (priro was XP I.E. 8 ) and think it popped up with the new computer

I wouldnt spend a lot of time on it. Whenever I see it now in eidt mode I will ignore the double texst.

OK, I could only find one reference to this symptom, and it was from version 2.something in 2004. 4.1.12 was released this evening and has 90 or so bug fixes, many of which are in the CMS and not the Forum portion of the software - and none make any mention of this. We are on 4.1.10 patch level 1, so not too far behind.

My gut is telling me no... but my gut is also very
I received two emails today regarding threads to which I’d subscribed, but neither link was able to connect with the site. They both timed out. I figured the site must be down for some reason, but just now, using my bookmark to the forums, I was able to get on without any problem. So something seems screwy somewhere.

I have an idea to make the site look a little better (my opinion of course). Can you CAPITALIZE all the forum categories (i.e. NEW ENGLAND instead of New England, NEW YORK instead of New York, etc.). Give it a shot and see if you like it (I think you will).

Top menu on IE 9

Hi,
Are you aware that the menu of the forum VFTT with IE9 (32 or 64 bits) is different with Google Chrome and Firefox?
Look:

I believe IE has something called "Compatibility Mode" that you can turn on for a website. Perhaps it needs to be on for VFTT? Or turned off, if it's on already?
