Entered Sandwich Notch from Rt. 49..northern part had a lot of icy spots..parked at Algonquin Trailhead room for a couple vehicles..trail was frozen for the most part..first crossing rocks were very icy so went on a log nearby..other crossings small and easy..used microspikes upon entering fir forest as icy conditions began..a few scrambles were tricky and caution needed..only went to Black Mt. Pond Trail jct and returned..then went to Crawford Ridgepole over to E Doublehead..was able to park very near to trailhead room for one or two vehicles..that first scramble could cause issues if it had been icy but it was not..did not have to use any traction over there..enjoyed the walk over to E Doublehead and a couple of nice viewpoints..southern part of SN road was good and I did take Dinsmore Pond Rd. back to Rt. 113..nice ride home with great winter like colors around sunset..Lefty E
