I thought this was going to be a thread about ice cut into blocks and sold for refrigeration, for which purpose a number of artificial ponds were created - Chandler's Pond in Boston for example.
Anyway, I hiked Welch & Dickey today, and it rained all day. Virtually all the snow and ice is gone - I could have made about six snowballs if I hunted around a while near the peaks. The forecast is for more rain all week, then rising temperatures. Some of the rain will fall as snow above 5,000 feet or so, but I would be very surprised if any pond other than Lakes of the Clouds is still frozen.
