A weekend warrior with a shellfish allergy would likely have a problem. One of the things shellfish have that cause reactions is iodine. Something to keep in mind if you're in a group or offering water to someone you don't know.

They make a few helicopter trips to each hut every spring and fall as well. They might be including the rent (or taxes?) on their Boston office in the 'lodging' line items, too.

I bet the cables from the last bridge they ripped out are still out in the woods. I'd bet a group of five or six people could string them up across that brook assuming they had a day without a ranger bothering them...

It's possible. Big beard, 5'4". I'm also about 145 lbs. I wouldn't be surprised if weight was a huge factor in footwear preference. If I put another 70 pounds in my pack, I don't think my ankles would appreciate it...

I'll volunteer! I did an out and back to Owl's Head in sandals with full overnight gear once along the fisherman's trail. Even if you're pulled over in the breakdown lane, I think. I saw something that said if the keys were in the ignition, car running or not. They'll be looking hard for a while, too, just to 'raise awareness'.

That's just rude. I'd imagine there's a large bon fire when they come back and clear it out, too, regardless of how dry the woods are on that particular day. I'd put some poison ivy and wild roses in there... :D
