I am looking at either Gore-tex XCR or Paclite, wondering if there is any advantage/disadvantage to one ot the other. I know paclite lives up to it's name and pacs smaller, but does it keep you as dry? Last as long?

The atlas ride great, but the binding attachment to the frame seems to be a weak spot. Sherpa are bomb proof, but have slid into history. New brand, Arcktic Trekker, look identical to sherpa. http://www.irl.bc.ca/Forestry%20Supplies/snowshoes.htm

Arcteryx Alpha. These guys are pioneers in the feild, and their stuff is bomb proof. You pay a bit more, but it will last for years.

Anyone with recomendations on Digital cameras for backpacking? Fixed lens vs SLR?

In my winter experience, I find the bigger amd bulkier the clothes, the colder they seem to be. Big air pockets in the gear does not keep you warm. Scholler fabrics answer this by fitting snug but not restricting movement(Depending on the manufacturer cut) also polertech power shield/stretch...

Arctic Trekker I have seen the Arctic Trekkers, they look identical to the old Sherpas. I believe the company is making their own parts to match the sherpas.
